Celebrating Life Through Divine Worship
3rd Sunday of Advent
10:00 AM, December 12, 2010
The time of centering: God calls us now in this Christmas season to become new, to make room for our own nativity, even where there is no room at the inn. Where we are fearful – Hope. Where we are bitter – Love. Where we are sad – Joy. Where we are busy – Peace. Let this hour be a time to embrace all these gifts from God. Welcome home.
PRELUDE - As the music begins, our worship service begins
ENTRANCE OF THE LIGHT
INVOCATION
Eternal Creator, with you each moment of life is full of wonder and surprise. Make us watchful as we await the coming of the Christ. Grant that we may not be found sleeping, but awake and rejoicing in your newness of life!
WELCOME
*LIGHTING THE ADVENT CANDLE
LEADER: Joy to the World!
PEOPLE: We have lit the candles of HOPE and LOVE. In the glow of their light we feel the warmth of deep and quiet JOY.
LEADER: Joy to the earth, the Savior Reigns.
PEOPLE: Let us our songs employ.
LEADER: Let us sing to the glory of God;
PEOPLE: Let us sing in the name of Christ who offers us hope in the prison of despair,
LEADER: Peace in the chaos of life,
PEOPLE: God’s love – graciously, silently, vulnerably offered.
ALL: And heaven, and heaven and nature sing!
