Celebrating Life Through Divine Worship
2nd Sunday of Advent
10:00 AM, December 5, 2010
The time of centering: God calls us now in this Christmas season to become new, to make room for our own nativity, even where there is no room at the inn. Where we are fearful – Hope. Where we are bitter – Love. Where we are sad – Joy. Where we are busy – Peace. Let this hour be a time to embrace all these gifts from God. Welcome…
PRELUDE - As the music begins, our worship service begins
ENTRANCE OF THE LIGHT
INVOCATION
God of manger and star, let us enter your story once again and find ourselves kneeling with the shepherds, singing with the angels, and worshipping with the Magi. Touch our hearts with the wonder of birth and the depth of your love. Speak to us in word and song and lift us to the realms of glory.
WELCOME
*SONGS OF PRAISE “Emmanuel, Emmanuel”
“Go Tell It on the Mountain”
*LIGHTING THE ADVENT CANDLE
LEADER: God is making the final preparations for an amazing thing! Now is the Advent of the long-awaited Messiah, our bringer of hope, our leader of love.
PEOPLE: We wait, we prepare, we make straight the way.
LEADER: We celebrate the coming of Christ with the lighting of the Advent candles.
PEOPLE: We are a people of hope, a people of love.
LEADER: At first there was the frail light of a single candle of hope, daring to pierce through the darkness of despair and sin. Today we light the candle of love. No other word so adequately captures the spirit and goal of our faith. No other word so completely describes what we know of our God.
PEOPLE: For God so loved the world . . .
LEADER: For God so loved the world that a child was given. A savior was made in the form of Love Incarnate. And Love was allowed to live on …
PEOPLE: We gather then in Christian Love;
LEADER: We give thanks for a love that passes understanding, and we await the dawning of God’s pervasive and enduring love once more this Christmas season.

Most holy Lord, we come to your table this advent season, hungry for hope and healing love. Come to us through this bread and wine. Strengthen us in body, mind and spirit to do your will in the world. As we gather at your table, make us, who are many, one with you. Draw our hearts and minds into such communion with you and with another that we may be living signs of your love in the world. Through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

If you knew him, come with a story or two to share with everyone “What would Wayne want from his Memorial?” Is the theme of our gathering. He would want joy, not sadness. Let’s have fun in his memory.
