Celebrating Life through Divine Worship

October 23, 2011

The time of centering:

All that we have is the Lord’s.  The earth is his – oceans and mountains, sun and rain – life itself.  All that we are comes from God and, as his people; we are shaped by the working of his Holy Spirit among us.  All that we give is the Lord’s.  We are only stewards, returning what is rightfully His.     In giving us himself through his Son, our Savior Jesus Christ, we are rich beyond measure.  Let us worship the Lord, whose children we are.

PRELUDE                                    Worship begins as the music is played

ENTRANCE OF THE LIGHT

INVOCATION

Know that the Lord is God.  It is he that made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.  Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise.  Give thanks to him, bless his name.  For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.  Psalm 100:3-5

UNISON PRAYER

God, we cannot escape your love.  We can find no place to hide.  You search us out wherever we may be.  Your love is like a mother’s blanket, protecting us wherever we go.  Your love shields us.  We may travel to the moon or to the depths of the ocean; your love is there.  We may think ourselves to greater levels of sophistication: your love is there.  We may fall into pits of worry and fear: your love is there.  Thank you, God, for your steadfast mercy and care.  Thank you for being there, wherever there may be.  Amen.

BENEDICTION

Ever-present God, forever seeking us and always teaching us, open our minds to the truth of your care; open our hearts to the gentle caress of your love; open our lips to share stories of faith; open our hands to create beauty, do justice and show kindness; open our souls to the breath of your Spirit; and open our mouths to sing boldly and loudly your praises.  Amen!
