Celebrating Life Through
Divine Worship
10:00 AM, October 10, 2010
The time of centering: We use this time to make the transition between “getting here” and “being here.” Take these few minutes of quiet time to get in touch with the calm places, the still, deep places in you; the spirit. Relax your body; quiet the inner dialogue of you mind. Focus on feeling, on being. Be receptive to your center – your reservoir of inner peace, strength, love. Be aware of being with others. Feel the spirit of the community. Welcome………..

CALL US TOGETHER
LEADER:
People of God, look about creation and see the faces of
those
we know and love – neighbors and friends, brothers
and sisters – a communion of kindred hearts.
PEOPLE: People of God, look
about and see the faces of those we
hardly know –
strangers, sojourners, forgotten friends,
the ones who need an outstretched hand.
LEADER:
People of God, look about and see all the images of God
assembled
here today. In me, in you, and in each of us
everywhere,
God’s Spirit shines for all to see!
PEOPLE: People of God, we give
thanks that once more, God has
brought
us together, that we might refresh one another.
LEADER: People of God, come, let us worship, and learn and grow
together.
ALL: Peace to all who enter here, peace this
day and every
day, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

The Churchmouse
One evening, Alonzo and I sat counting
up the seeds we’d harvested. Our newfound wealth reminded him of a rich
churchmouse he once knew. That mouse always tithed and gave 10%
of his earnings to the church. One year, he had a chance to make a lot
more money, but it would take everything he had, so he decided not to
tithe that year. Instead, he invested it all, but his investments soon
went “sour.” By the next year, he needed all his money just to survive.
Then he thought he would lose everything! Finally, he realized that he was taking
the Lord’s share for his own use. “Why should the Lord bless selfishness?”
he wondered. So he tightened his belt and renewed his tithe. Oddly enough,
he started prospering again. Alonzo and I decided that tithing won’t
necessarily make us rich, but if we can’t be good stewards with “a
little,” we couldn’t think of any reason why the Lord would ever allow us
“a lot”!
