Celebrating Life through Divine Worship

Communion Sunday

10:00 AM     September 4, 2011

The time of centering:

Jesus said, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.”  As you worship with us on this Labor Day weekend, we hope that you will find here a place to worship and that you will enter into our Master’s rest and peace.  Welcome home.

PRELUDE                                   Worship begins as the music is played

ENTRANCE OF THE LIGHT

INVOCATION

Jesus said, “Follow me.”  We don’t always know what that means.  We are on a journey of discovery.  We are here because we want to be God’s people; we are here because we are broken and want to be whole again; we are here to celebrate our lives, and God’s presence in this life.  Let us worship with great thanksgiving.  Let us worship the Prince of Peace.  Amen.

WELCOME

*SONG OF PRAISE                            "Believe in God, Believe in Me"

CALL TO WORSHIP
LEADER: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God,
and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
PEOPLE:   And also with you.
LEADER: Come before God and rejoice in his presence.
PEOPLE:  The Lord calls to us and asks us to gather in his name.
LEADER:  He calls to us and asks us to love him and keep his word.
PEOPLE:  He calls to us that so he may pour out his Spirit upon us.
LEADER:  He calls to us so that he might grant us his peace.
PEOPLE:  He calls to us so that he might make his home within us.
ALL:  God calls to us that he might bless us.  Bless his holy name, the Prince of Peace, now and always. Amen.

THE GREAT THANKSGIVING

Unison Prayer of Preparation

Compassionate and loving Lord, you promised to leave us your peace, a peace unlike that which the world offers to us.  Father, lead us all to that peace.  Help us to trust in your living word and to do what you ask of us.  Grant us a confident faith - one that looks to the light rather than at the darkness - one that dares to enter the turmoil of the world - knowing that you are making the world new through your Peace.  Amen.

BENEDICTION

Go, and may the peace of God - the peace that passes understanding - keep your hearts and your minds in the knowledge and the love of Christ- both now and forevermore.  Amen.
