Celebrating Life through Divine Worship

Fifth Sunday of Lent, Communion

10:00 am, April 10, 2011

The time of centering: Now the time of reflection and stillness is upon us.  Now is the season for inward searching. Close your eyes. Be still. Listen. We are entering a holy time, the time of Lent. We are journeying to the sacred center of our faith. We are entering the depths of our own hearts. At the center of our faith, in the depth of our hearts, God is waiting for us, reaching out to us, inviting us to leave ordinary time and to follow him along the journey that brought Jesus to the Cross. God is calling you. Listen.

PRELUDE                                    Worship begins as the music is played

ENTRANCE OF THE LIGHT

INVOCATION

God of undying love, we come to you dry and lifeless, seeking your breath of life.  Lead us to the place where our hopes lie buried and call us out from the tombs of despair.  Call forth our faith that, with Martha, we may know you to be the resurrection and the life, in this world and the world to come.  Amen.

WELCOME

*SONGS OF PRAISE                                        "He Touched Me" 367

CALL TO WORSHIP

LEADER:  In this season, we worship remembering Jesus’ death in love for us and all people.
PEOPLE:  Reveal the depths of your love in the midst of our darkest night.
LEADER:  Show us the path of hope when all we see are dead ends.
PEOPLE:  Lent is a time of tears.
LEADER:   But out of tears, joy is born – the joy of sin forgiven, hope reborn, and life restored.

ALL:  We stand in awe of the God who brings joy out of tears, hope out of despair, and life out of death.  Let us worship with reverence. Amen.
